Michael Robirds, President and CEO of MDR Inc. graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering in 1999. Upon graduation, he entered the United States Air Force as a commissioned officer stationed at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base working in the Civil Engineering Squadron. While stationed at Davis-Monthan, he completed his master degree studies at the University of Arizona in the field of Civil Engineering and graduated with a Master of Science degree in 2002. After 5 years of military service, Michael decided to pursue a career in the civilian sector. This allowed him to plant roots for his family while continuing to do the work he truly enjoys. In 2004, he accepted a position as a project engineer and later was promoted to project manager in charge of large federal construction projects for an international company. The scope of the projects included large vertical and horizontal design-build construction, such as facility renovations, natural gas distribution piping, perimeter electrical and security upgrades, and facility demolition, totaling nearly $50M over a 7 year period. His focus on building lasting client relationships earned him several customer service awards and he carries forward his commitment to safety, quality, and client focus to MDR.
Billy Kilmer, JR, COO. Billy entered the directional drilling industry in 1996 as a field laborer and quickly moved up to equipment operator and ultimately a directional drilling operator, providing drilling services throughout the state of California. In 2005, he envisioned creating a full service horizontal directional drilling company and opened Accu-Bore Directional Drilling (ABDD) with his wife Amy. From 2005 to 2011, Billy grew ABDD from a company with 3 personnel and 1 drilling rig, to a thriving company with 20+ personnel and 7 drilling rigs. Due to his diligence, customer focus, and keen understanding of the directional drilling field, he has performed work throughout the United States on complex directional drilling operations including work for federal, municipal, utility providers, and commercial/private clients. With over 15 years of experience, Billy brings the technical expertise to solve underground utility issues.
MDR Inc. employs a team of over 50 highly qualified professionals dedicated to performing work in a timely and safe manner, exceeding client expectations. This skilled team includes project managers, administrative personnel, estimators, superintendents, a civil engineer, foremen, drill rig operators, and laborers, each one essential to accomplishing company objectives. MDR INC also maintains a vast network of subcontractor team partners and suppliers to maximize access to specialty trades and products.
